SIWGA ~ HISTORY
Prior
to 1989, the only competitive golf event available to women on Staten Island was
a one-day event sponsored by the

hold a one-day women’s tournament on condition that there be a minimum of “30

By 1995, the SIWGA schedule was expanded to include a better ball tournament,
“The Team Tournament”, and a scramble event called the “Captain and Crew
Tournament”.
Before the end of its first decade of existence, the SIWGA turned up the level
of competition to include match play in the Staten Island Women’s Amateur and an
Interclub competition for the local women’s golf clubs.
